Founded in 1881 in the city of Dundee (Scotland), the University of Dundee offers an excellent programme of study and great opportunities for study and research. According to the Times Higher Education Student Experience Survey 2018, UoD is not only ranked 2nd in the ranking of the best Scottish universities, but also 14th best out of 116 institutions assessed across the UK.

Despite being considered a small city, Dundee is the fourth largest municipality in Scotland, with approximately 150,000 inhabitants, and is located on the east coast of Scotland. In addition to its beautiful old buildings – the city was founded around the 12th century – in 2018 Dundee became the first British city to be considered a UNESCO City of Design, which intensified its dynamic and multicultural character already known to locals and tourists.
The title, which has secured the small town’s status as a Scottish cultural powerhouse, was a result of the opening of the V&A Dundee design museum in September last year. The museum has added to the ancient city’s sleek, modern profile, being the first Victoria & Albert to be built outside London, and the University of Dundee was instrumental in its creation and construction.
Despite its modern architecture and cultural diversity, Dundee is a relatively small city with a close-knit and extremely friendly community, making it an affordable and safe place to visit and live. According to GQ Magazine, Dundee could be described as the coolest small city in Britain.

The University of Dundee has over 18,000 students and 3,000 staff, earning it the status of a “university city”. Students come from 145 countries and staff come from 72, making the university, like the city, a truly global institution!
Without a doubt, it is an incredible opportunity for international students who are looking not only for quality education, but also to learn about new cultures.

According to internationalist Jessica Rayel, a Masters student in International Security at UoD, the university makes Dundee an extremely lively, bustling and youthful city, thanks to its students. In addition, the institution is concerned with the adaptation of students to the local culture and, to help them, organizes events that promote Scottish culture and help students understand some of the country's traditions.
Taking care of students is a priority at Dundee: if a student is having difficulty with the language, adapting to a new country or having emotional problems, there is a dense support network offered by the university.
Jessica, who was accepted into six British universities with the help of free advice from loveUK, says that he chose the University of Dundee for several reasons, including the excellent study program and support for international students.

According to the student, the loveUK was essential from start to finish in the application process, from choosing the universities to issuing the visa. “They were very helpful with all my questions about the universities and put me in touch with the ones that most interested me, which made a difference when it came to choosing,” says Jessica. In addition, with the help of the team, Jessica was able to get a scholarship for her master’s degree.
The University of Dundee offers scholarships of various types to both domestic and international students, which can be found on the university's website. For the demanding application process, loveUK offers a free advisory service from the university selection stage to the Tier4 application (visa required).
