MBA: understand why the course goes beyond the normal category of masters

O MBA (Master of Business Administration) is one of the most prestigious and recognized courses in the world. Taught as a master's degree, this degree prepares students for all kinds of situations in the most varied business and business sectors, going beyond the well-known teaching model that other master's degrees offer.

Unlike other specialization courses, British universities offering an MBA require at least four years of leadership experience from their students. That is, it is not enough to have a bachelor's degree to enter.

Holders of an MBA degree present general knowledge about the different areas of a company (whether in communication, financial, strategic, marketing, human resources or operational), assuming a global and strategic vision that few executives can have.

In general, the course is aimed at professionals with experience in management positions who wish to advance in their careers, while at the same time “giving a boost” to their salary potential – according to the Financial Times, an MBA can generate an increase of approximately 100% in the professional salary. It is also worth remembering that many job vacancies, all over the world, give exclusivity to candidates with this degree on their resume, proving to be almost a prerequisite in the business world.

As the students of this course are already inserted in the job market, the MBA has several categories to embrace the availability of each professional, which can be:

full-time

Exactly as the name implies, studies take a year (in the case of the UK) and classes take place throughout the week. The course requires intense dedication time.

Executive (EMBA)

Aimed at professionals who cannot put their careers aside for a while. Taught on a part-time basis, this format allows you to deepen your studies while keeping your focus on work, but in order to do so, universities require a solid professional experience from the candidate, with at least five years in an administrative position.

Professional (PMBA)

It offers even greater flexibility than other formats, focusing on a specific area, which can be finance, consulting, environmental management, commercial direction, marketing, etc.

Distance Learning

The main difference between Distance Learning and Online is that the former requires students to attend some classes in person during the course period. In general, however, classes are taught through interactive videos, teleconferencing, and online and offline activities. This allows the student to maintain their own pace of learning, without having to constantly be in a classroom.

Of loveUK's more than 30 partner universities, all offer MBA programs and, of these, five are among the top 100 in the world for this course, according to a ranking compiled by The Economist:

– University of Warwick (18th)

– Durham University (57th)

– University of Strathclyde (72nd)

– University of Birmingham (76th)

– Leeds University (94th)
