loveUK Universities: Modern, University of Bradford offers courses for today's sociedad requirements

This Friday (1) we launched another series for our readers, the #loveUKUniversities. Each week, you will learn about the profile of a partner university, with valuable information, tips provided by representatives or leading recruiters and reports on the experience of some of our students who are already there.

In the premiere of the painting is University of Bradford, located in the city of the same name, in England, with 50 years of operation. A pioneer in developing courses that adapt to the needs of society, the institution currently has around 11 thousand students and, of these, 22% come from 131 other countries, including Brazil.

Among its five faculties, the most sought-after courses, especially by Brazilians, are concentrated in the renowned Business School, which has triple accreditation (EQUIS, AMBA and AACSB, a feat achieved by few business schools in the world), while Faculty of Engineering and Informatics, in addition to the expected courses in these two areas, it stands out for its focus on themes relevant to what current technology has demanded in the world, such as Games, Animation, Visual Effects, Cinema and Media - the latter two benefit from the university's connections with the National Science and Media Museum, located in the same city, and with the BBC, the largest information network in the United Kingdom.

In the Life and Health Sciences, Bradford offers a wide range of courses, including Pharmacy, Forensic Science, Archaeology, Optometry, Physiotherapy, Dementia Studies and Biomedical Sciences. Last year, the institution received the prestigious Queens Anniversary Prize for its work on dementia, and also has specialist laboratories, such as the Bradford Trading Room with Bloomberg Professional, the Biological Anthropology Research Centre, Motion Capture Suite, Animation and Games Lab, Physiotherapy Motion Lab and the Computer Enterprise Centre, among others, as well as strong connections with companies in a range of areas.

It is also worth remembering that the university's Center for Peace Studies and International Development was the first to be created in the world and is internationally recognized for its quality, which is why courses in this area are highly sought after.

But why choose the University of Bradford to expand your horizons? Senior International Officer, Daniela Tolezano, argues that the institution has excellence in teaching and research and that it “offers courses that reflect and anticipate the needs of employers, students and society as a whole. We are the place for those who are interested in acquiring the knowledge necessary for the development of their careers and in exploring solutions to current issues”.

The university seeks in an international student not only the necessary requirements for the chosen course but also an interest in developing solutions to society's challenges, curiosity in learning and improving their potential and willingness to be part of a diverse community, in which they can contribute by sharing their ideas and experiences.

Tolezano also states that because it has a multicultural campus, the university offers strong support to international students, from the moment they enroll to their arrival in the UK and throughout the duration of their course.

“Bradford is located right in the heart of the UK, surrounded by spectacular scenery and within easy reach of the country’s major cities and many destinations in Europe. The city has a lot to offer in terms of events, culture, nightlife and has been designated a UNESCO City of Film,” says Tolezano.

The institution has high expectations for Brazil, which has expanded its activities in the country and with Brazilian universities to attract more students in the different areas of study it offers. “We are very happy to have Brazilian students and alumni having a great experience at our university, so it would be great to see more joining our community,” says the Senior International Officer.

What do you need to do to study there?

Anyone interested in studying at Bradford should first research the courses on offer to choose the one that best suits their needs, ensuring that they meet the minimum requirements to apply for the program. If you would like to learn more about the university’s facilities, you can take an online tour using the Virtual Experience on your own website.

Daniela points out the importance of preparing a strong application, dedicating a lot of time to writing a personal statement that highlights your experiences, goals, successful projects, strengths and your reasons for choosing the course and your plans for it. This is the time to put yourself in the spotlight, sell yourself in the best possible way, as long as, of course, all the information is truthful.

“Take your time to write this document to show your full potential to the university. Also have your documentation in order and with the appropriate translations, to avoid delays in the decision process”, he says.
