Find out more about the University of Glasgow

On the 4th, loveUK held, in São Paulo, the University of Glasgow presentation event, which was also broadcast live by webinar.

On the occasion, there were dozens of people interested in the university enrolled through the Events calendar from loveUK, who had the opportunity to learn more about the institution's profile, the courses offered and tips aimed at Brazilians. Lasting about two hours, the presentation was led by a representative of the university, the Dean of Law for Latin America, Rosa Greaves.

For those of you who were unable to attend the event but are interested in finding out more about the university, we offer below an exclusive interview we did with her:

loveUK: What makes Glasgow's renowned Master of Laws (LLM) different?

Rose Greaves: Masters in Law can be found at several universities, but the difference is that Glasgow offers five or six types of specializations in the field – such as international law, intellectual property law, and commercial law – with professors who have a strong presence as researchers in the field and who, through our courses, make students true experts recognized by the market.

loveUK: In your opinion, why should a Brazilian student choose Glasgow?

Rose Greaves: This question is very interesting. Glasgow is practically the opposite of Brazil in terms of climate and lifestyle. I'm not from there either, so it's a different city for me too. It provides a unique experience for being located in Scotland, which has a very different culture from the rest of the UK. It is close to beautiful scenery, such as mountains and islands, and has a vibrant life, with many young people, music, art and international students, which ranks it as one of the best cities to study.

loveUK: What recommendations would you give to Brazilians interested in studying at Glasgow?

Rose Greaves: In general, I always advise you to take courses whose topics are not offered in Brazil, so you will have an even more differentiated curriculum. In this sense, I believe it is interesting for them to talk to their professors in Brazil, especially those who work in the research area. They will certainly know how to recommend the best courses for you.

loveUK: Which Glasgow courses are best suited for Brazilians?

Rose Greaves: There are several areas where Glasgow excels. Among the main ones are: Biomedicine, Social Sciences, International Relations and Letters, including for the teaching of the English language. All of these courses are among the highest rated in annual education rankings.
