Chevening Scholarship: Where to start?

Attention, attention! At registration for Chevening, Scholarship Program for Masters in UK, are open!

I remember that moment very well last year, when I decided to apply for Chevening. And today, luckily, I am on a scholarship, organizing the last details to embark for England, for what will certainly be one of the best experiences of my life!

Do you want to apply for Chevening but don't even know where to start? So take a few minutes to read these tips and make a successful application!

Read all website information and FAQ

The first step for anyone interested in the Chevening Scholarship is to read the information provided. in the website. That's where you'll find the eligibility criteria, requirements (such as English proficiency and work experience), application system information and much more.

If you have any doubts, refer to the FAQ – Frequently Asked Questions! The page is super complete and is divided by categories, which makes the search for information much easier.

Get organized: dedicate yourself to choosing Universities/Courses

It is not mandatory to apply to universities before applying for Chevening. Most people I know even applied to universities only after finishing the Chevening application.

However, you will need to indicate in the scholarship application which are the three options of universities/courses that you are interested in attending. Take some time to evaluate this, as this decision is irreversible. Is important assess the university's position in the general rankings, in the rankings of your area, to know the university structure, library, extracurricular opportunities…

If you are in doubt, how about contacting the alumni of the institutions, or people who took the course that interests you? Use and abuse social networks for this (LinkedIn is a great tool for this purpose). You can also count on loveUK's expert support, which has a wide range of partner universities!

Fill in the application information carefully

This item is very important! Fill everything carefully and review your application several times, to avoid any errors. Some errors, such as the wrong filling of the time of professional experience, can exclude you from the process already in the first stage (in the phase of analysis of the eligibility criteria).

Don't be in a hurry to finish the application

Registration opened on August 6th, but closes on November 6th (check out the Chevening timeline). That way, don't be in a hurry to finish your application. Create a document in a text editor with the application's main questions (the famous essays!), and dedicate yourself to them over the course of several weeks.

This gives you time to write, rewrite, revise and change everything as many times as necessary so that you can formulate excellent answers!

But don't leave it for the last minute either, huh?!

Chevening receives thousands of applications every year (last year alone there were more than 60 thousand worldwide!) and, unfortunately, not a few people complete their application in the last days. Obviously, this huge volume of simultaneous accesses can generate an overload on the system and it can become unstable.

I heard reports from friends who, last year, went through this. You don't want to run the risk of not being able to finish your application, do you?! Organize to submit it at least 7 days before the deadline.

Ready to start realizing your goal of doing a Masters in the UK, with a full scholarship? If you need an initial incentive, how about checking out the posts of the newest fellows through #ChosenForChevening, on Instagram and Twitter? Next year it could be you!

Big hug and success!
