Conference in the United Kingdom discusses the Brazilian agenda with Raul Jungmann, Fernando Haddad, Kátia Abreu

The fourth edition of the event will take place next month. Brazil Forum UK, an annual conference organized by Brazilian students based in the United Kingdom, whose objective is to debate the current situation in Brazil. This year, the conference will take place on May 18 and 19, bringing together personalities from politics, academia and civil society to discuss issues related to the theme “Dialogues for a Constructive Agenda”.

The event will feature panels focused on Education, the Environment, Sustainable Development, Justice, Public Safety, Media and Fake News, Democracy, Economy and Entrepreneurship, all composed of panelists from multiple ideological backgrounds, in order to make the debate even more plural. An example of this is the environmental panel, which will feature two vice-presidential candidates with very different ideas: Kátia Abreu and Sonia Guajajara.

Among the other participants already confirmed are politicians such as former presidential candidate Fernando Haddad, the current governor of Minas Gerais, Romeu Zema, as well as the former executive secretary of the Ministry of Education, Maria Helena Castro, and the former Minister of Public Security Raul Jungmann.

In the media area, the panels will include Folha de S. Paulo journalist Patrícia Campos Mello and the founder of the fact-checking agency Lupa, Cristina Tardáguila. Others confirmed are Supreme Court Justice Luís Roberto Barroso, Senator Cid Gomes, economist and lawyer Elena Landau, managing partner of Mattos Filho Advogados José Carneiro de Queiroz, economist and BNDES manager Lavinia Barros de Castro and Renova Foundation President Roberto Waack.

“By bringing together so many important people from Brazilian society to discuss such crucial issues, our idea is to build bridges between different sectors of society through dialogue for a healthy debate about the future of Brazil. This is a unique opportunity to bring together different points of view in a single space before a global audience in the United Kingdom interested in understanding a little more about our country,” said the 35 Brazilian students who are voluntarily organizing the conference in a statement.

The conference is being held at the London School of Economics (LSE) and the University of Oxford. Registration is now open.
