Good news for those who want to study in London: the cost of living has dropped

A recent report released by the English magazine The Economist revealed that London dropped 15 positions in the ranking of the most expensive cities in the world.

The Worldwide Cost of Living Report, updated annually by the publication, in its 2017 edition – released last week – brought the information that the English capital fell from 6th to 24th place in the world ranking. In practice, this means that the cost of living in the land of the Queen is already cheaper than in Paris, New York and many other major cities in the world.

According to experts, the reduction is due to the effect caused by Brexit - the United Kingdom's decision to leave the European Union -, which has resulted in a significant devaluation of the British currency since then.

For you, esteemed loveUK follower, the good news is that the cost of living for foreigners – such as Brazilians – who intend to study in London and other British cities tends to be significantly lower.

To give you an idea, a year ago, the value of the pound hit R$5.28. Today, almost a year later, it has reached R$3.88 (April 10th). This means huge relief for students in food, transportation and other expenses. Everything is cheaper, including the costs of so-called tuition fees – university tuition fees. Date: Pound value (in reais): 27/05/2016 5,28

10/04/2017 3,88

Another good news is that, as the legal implications of Brexit will take time, until 2022 foreign students will be able to continue to have a visa – Tier 4 – that allows them to work part-time, that is, up to 20 hours a week. After that date, it is not yet known how it will turn out.

So, regardless of what type of course or university you are looking for, this is the time to put your dream of studying abroad into practice! And loveUK is here to help you do it.
